Military Ministries

First Assembly | Military MinistryMilitary members have unique needs and First Assembly of God strives toward meeting those needs by connecting with each other through fellowship and through different ministries, as well.  We recognize the sacrifices our military personnel are making as they stand ready to defend our freedom while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

The military leadership team are here to help each military member and/or their family get settled into the area, get to know other members in the church, and ultimately get connected.  Pat and Cindy Dennis are a retired military couple with 21 years of service and Nick and Faith Williams are an active duty couple with over ten years of experience.  Both couples are your link to all that First Assembly of God offers whether you are here temporarily or on extended tour.  Nick and Faith (202-213-4291 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ).  Pat and Cindy (703- 768-2811 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ).

Mission:

The Military Support Ministry focuses on the mental, spiritual, and social needs of families with military experience.  Our goal is to enable armed forces personnel and their family members to effectively live a Christian life in the global military environment of the 21st Century.

Key Objectives:

Keeping our military before the congregation for prayer and support, both those serving locally and those deployed

Encouraging service members who are struggling with loneliness by offering them an environment of Christian fellowship and love

Enriching the lives of military personnel through Bible-centered programs

Insuring that no single military person will have to spend the holidays alone by placing them with a host family

Events:

All military members, active duty and retired, are invited to each military event held throughout the year.  Several events are being planned including potlucks, paintballing, and ice skating.  We are always open to suggestions and hope to hear of some really great inexpensive ways to get out as a group.

For Bolling AFB and Bellevue Naval Housing Residents:

Named the Crossover group because we must "crossover" the Woodrow Wilson Bridge to get to church!  We will be meeting the third Sunday evening of each month in the home of Dean and Melissa Prentice (361 Blanchard Dr., Bolling AFB, D.C. 20032) from 5:30 - 7:30pm.  This will be an opportunity to have more intimate fellowship with each other and share a potluck meal together.  Each family is asked to bring enough food and drink for their family plus a guest.  We will share the food and drinks, fellowship, and have a time of prayer and Bible study that would be directly related to our lives as military members and families.  For more information, please contact Dean and Melissa at 202-562-1265 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

For Fort Belvoir Area Residents:

We are hoping to start a cell group in the Fort Belvoir area.  If there are any military members in that area who are interested in helping to start a group, such as hosting once a month, please contact Pat and Cindy Dennis or Nick and Faith Williams.

Deployed Members:

All family members of deployed service members are asked to contact one of the Military Ministry leaders so that we can put the name of the deployed member on our prayer list and assist with any needs that the family may have.  The prayer list will go out via email to all members who wish to receive the prayer requests.
